A sleek, simple design created with complex, traditional methods.

The oak frame is steambent into a complete circle, held with a scarf joint, and fumed to a deep chocolate brown with ammonia. It is then wrapped in highly polished brass to offset the darkness of the fumed oak. The brass seam adds an elegant, subtle detail to the frame.

The copper mirror plane shows the traditional process of the water gilding - edges of the sheets are visible, surface wrinkles appear, and slight differences in tone can be seen. Hand gilding creates a visual interest that is almost textural, something which cannot be achieved with modern mirror glass.
